Training
Cyber 4.0 delivers dedicated cybersecurity training of an organizational, legal and technical nature: training courses tailored to the needs of individual organizations and aimed at managers, entrepreneurs, cyber experts, IT operators, as well as all personnel who access data and information through IT systems.
The context of transition to an increasingly widespread use of digital technologies requires every organization not only to continuously update its specialized personnel, but also to undertake a learning effort involving the entire organization aimed at building and strengthening a collective and widespread awareness of cybersecurity risks related to the use of potentially vulnerable IT tools, and the execution of procedures for their proper management.
The Center offers organizations a number of standard or custom-designed training courses, delivered in the classroom, via e-learning or on site which can be taken either individually or combined into structured learning pathways.
The available initiatives cover a wide range of formats: standard introductory courses, specialized and technical courses, modular cybersecurity courses, professional certification tracks, seminars, development of awareness campaigns, programs, materials and tools.

The training paths
Training programs for managers and entrepreneurs are delivered as tailor-made in-depth modules on cyber risk management—both prevention and incident response—compliance with cybersecurity and data-protection regulations and standards, and the governance and management of cybersecurity processes (including a dedicated focus on supply chain security).
Specialized training tracks are available for cyber professionals, covering techniques and methodologies such as vulnerability assessment and penetration testing (ISECOM OSSTMM), intelligence techniques (OSINT, SOCMINT, virtual HUMINT), business continuity and disaster recovery, privacy by design, software security, encryption solutions, big-data security, and the implementation of current regulations and international standards.
The Center also offers dedicated courses on the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies and the associated cybersecurity implications. In this context, in-depth modules are available on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, IoT and operational technologies (OT cybersecurity), Blockchain and its applications, 5G security, space and cybersecurity.
Cyber 4.0 also offers courses delivered through cyber ranges and other immersive training environments. These programs enable the simulation of complex cyber-warfare scenarios, allowing teams to perform hands-on training activities and take part in structured debriefing sessions.

Some examples of training activities carried out by Cyber 4.0
Blockchain training program for Stellantis
Cyber 4.0 has designed and structured a blockchain training program tailored to the needs of Stellantis, covering everything from theoretical concepts to practical applications of this technology in the automotive sector. The program is intended for employees in IT, Cybersecurity, and Digital role.
The course consists of approximately 90 hours, delivered synchronously, alternating between theoretical modules and hands-on exercises, supported by instructors from both the private sector (cybersecurity professionals with domain expertise) and academia.

Lazio Region and Cyber 4.0: Together to Train the Next Generation of Cybersecurity Professionals
Cyber 4.0 collaborates with Lazio Region to develop the Lazio Cybersecurity Academy (ACL).
The Academy was established through a partnership between the Lazio Region and ACN, aiming to provide multi-level training in cybersecurity and information security for high school students, recent graduates, and university graduates. Four training tracks with increasing levels of specialization are planned.
The program kicks off in September 2023 with the “Cybersecurity Technician” course, designed to prepare students for vulnerability and risk analysis, support for information systems monitoring teams, and incident management. The course lasts 300 hours and includes a subsequent internship with public institutions or private companies in the sector, intended to facilitate entry into the workforce.
To stay up-to-date on the academy’s activities, feel free to contact us(formazione@cyber40.it) or visit the academy’s website: ACL.

Leonardo and Cyber 4.0: “Cyber shield” challenge to enhance cyber skills in an immersive training environment
Cyber 4.0 partnered with Leonardo Cyber Academy – Cyber Security & Solutions division – to organize “Cyber Shield”, an immersive competition hosted on Leonardo’s cyber range and immersive training platforms.
Cyber Shield is a team-based competition structured as a series of questions and challenges simulating the analysis and management of a real cybersecurity incident. To progress through each stage and earn points, teams must solve increasingly difficult tasks. Hints may be provided, but using them results in a score penalty.
The team that achieves the highest score wins.
The event sees the participation of about 40 Security and Incident Management Teams from large companies, both national and non-national, located at three locations: Genoa (with the collaboration of Start 4.0), Milan (with the collaboration of MADE) and, indeed, Rome (with the collaboration of Cyber 4.0).
The award ceremony was held at the Cybertech EU event at the New Congress Center la Nuvola in Rome, Oct. 3-5.

Training minds for the work of the future: Cyber X – Mind4Future
The initiative involves students from universities affiliated with Cyber 4.0 (bachelor’s and master’s programs) in fields such as Information, Industrial and Information Engineering, as well as Mathematics, Physics, Data Science, Management, and Computer Science.
Globally, 80% of organizations have experienced one or more cyber attacks attributable to a lack of cybersecurity skills and/or awareness. The cyber skills gap in 2022 was over 3.43 million positions worldwide, expected to grow by 26.2% annually, and over 317,000 positions in the EMEA region, with an anticipated annual increase of 59.3%.
CyberX – Mind4Future offers students on the threshold of entering the workforce a concrete opportunity to enhance their skills, experiment with cutting-edge technological solutions, and gain insight into a leading business environment in the cybersecurity sector.
The program, organized by Cyber 4.0 in collaboration with Leonardo, aims to:
Participants attend training courses on cybersecurity topics and take part in laboratory and gaming activities within virtualized and immersive environments. The initiative concludes with a contest, in which the top performers are awarded 10 scholarships.

Cycle of Seminars for General Directors of the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy
The initiative was held in September 2023, with a cycle of 4 sessions in which the following topics were covered:
The outcomes have been brought to the attention of the Cyber Security Core. Forthcoming training will continue for other ministries (MUR and MASE).
Cyber 4.0 with the Council of Europe to support cyber exercise on cooperation between CSIRT and law enforcement agencies
Around 50 participants from 12 countries took part in a multinational cyber exercise on CSIRT and law enforcement cooperation, organized by the Council of Europe in Kakheti, Georgia, from October 24 to 27, 2023.
The exercise brought together representatives from law enforcement agencies, attorney general offices, and national CERTs/CSIRTs from the Eastern Partnership regions, the Western Balkans, and Turkey. Participants faced a realistic scenario of a state-sponsored cyber attack targeting the SCADA systems of the energy supplier of a fictional country.
The exercise had three main objectives:
Cyber 4.0 has collaborated with the Council of Europe (CyberEast and iProceeds-2 projects) and supported the exercise through:
Cyber 4.0’s contribution was made possible thanks to the support of Leonardo, which produced the artifacts used during the investigation and provided access to its Cyber Trainer and Cyber Range platforms.
