Training
Cyber 4.0 delivers dedicated cybersecurity training of an organizational, legal and technical nature: training courses designed on the needs of individual organizations and aimed at managers, entrepreneurs, cyber experts, IT operators, as well as all personnel who access data and information through IT systems.
The context of transition to an increasingly widespread use of digital technologies requires every organization not only to continuously update its specialized personnel, but also to make a learning effort of the entire organizational body, aimed at building and strengthening a collective and widespread awareness of cybersecurity risks related to the use of potentially vulnerable IT tools, and the execution of procedures for their proper management.
The Center offers organizations a number of standard or ad-hoc designed classroom, e-learning or at the requesting organization training courses, which can be considered either individually or composed into defined paths based on the needs encountered.
The available initiatives span different types: standard introductory courses, specialized and technical courses, modular cybersecurity courses, professional certification tracks, seminars, preparation of campaigns, programs, materials and tools, cybersecurity awareness.

The training paths
The training courses for managers and entrepreneurs are developed as tailor-made insights into cyber risk management, both preventive and response, compliance with regulations and standards in cybersecurity and personal data protection, and governance and management of cybersecurity processes (including a focus on supply chain security).
Specialized tracks on cybersecurity techniques and methodologies are available for cyber experts, such as: vulnerability assessment and penetration testing (ISECOM OSSTMM), intelligence techniques (OSINT, SOCMINT, virtual humint), business continuity and disaster recovery, privacy by design, software security, encryption solutions, big data security, implementation aspects of current regulations and international standards.
We also highlight specific courses dedicated to the adoption of 4.0 technologies and related cybersecurity aspects. In this context vertical insights are available on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, IoT and oprative technologies (OT cybersecurtiy), Blockchain and applications, 5G security, and space and cybersecurity.
Also available are courses delivered through the use of cyber range and other immersive training tools, which allow the generation of complex cyber warfare scenarios within which to run hands-on team training sessions and manage debriefing.

Some examples of training activities carried out by Cyber 4.0
Blockchain training program for Stellantis
Cyber 4.0 has defined and structured according to the needs of Stellantis, a blockchain training program: from theoretical concepts to practical applications of this technology in the automotive field. The program is aimed at employees in IT, Cyber and Digital.
The course consists of about 90 hours, delivered synchronously, alternating theoretical sections with practical exercises thanks to the support of lecturers from the private sector (professionals from cybersecurity providers who are experts in this field) and academia.

Lazio Region and Cyber 4.0, together to create the new cybersecurity professionals
Cyber 4.0 collaborates with Lazio Region to develop the Lazio Cybersecurity Academy (ACL).
The Academy was created through a collaboration between the Lazio Region and ACN, with the goal of providing multilevel training on cyber and information security issues for high school students, high school graduates and college graduates. Four incremental specialization level training tracks are planned.
It begins in September 2023 with the “Cybersecurity Technician” course, aimed at preparing students for activities in vulnerability and risk analysis, support for the information systems monitoring team and incident management. The course has a duration of 300 hours and provide, at the end of the educational course, a period of internship to be carried out in public institutions or private companies in the sector, with the aim of facilitating entry into the world of work.
To stay up-to-date on the academy’s activities, feel free to contact us(formazione@cyber40.it) or visit the academy’s website: ACL.

Leonardo and Cyber 4.0: “Cyber shield” challenge to enhance cyber skills in an immersive training environment
Cyber 4.0 is partnering with Leonardo Cyber Academy – Cyber Security & Solutions division in organizing “Cyber Shield,” an immersive competition developed on Leonardo’s cyber range and immersive training platforms.
Cyber Shield is a team-based competition that unfolds along a question-and-answer path in a contest that simulates the analysis and management activities of a real-life cybersecurity incident.
To pass each stage of the path and gain points, teams will have to solve a set of questions of increasing difficulty. Teams may be given hints for solving the questions, but this will result in a score penalty.
The team that achieves the highest score wins.
The event sees the participation of about 40 Security and Incident Management Teams from large companies, both national and non-national, located at three locations: Genoa (with the collaboration of Start 4.0, Milan (with the collaboration of MADE) and, indeed, Rome (with the collaboration of Cyber 4.0).
The award ceremony was held at the Cybertech EU event at the New Congress Center la Nuvola in Rome, Oct. 3-5.

Training minds for the work of the future: Cyber X – Mind4Future
The initiative involves students from universities that are part of Cyber 4.0 (bachelor’s and master’s) degrees in information, industrial and information engineering, and degrees in Mathematics, Physics, Data science, Management and Computer Science.
Globally, 80 percent of organizations have experienced one or more cyber attacks attributable to a lack of cybersecurity skills and/or awareness, while the skill-gap in cyber in 2022 is more than 3.43 million positions globally, set to increase by 26.2 percent annually, and more than 317 thousand positions in the EMEA region, with an expected increase of 59.3 percent annually.
CyberX – Mind4Future is a concrete opportunity for students about to enter the world of work to enhance their skills, experience frontier technology solutions and learn about a leading business environment in the cyber security industry.
The program, organized by Cyber 4.0 in collaboration with Leonardo, has the following objectives:
Students who participate in the initiative attend training courses on topics in cyber security and workshop and gaming activities in virtualized and immersive realities. Participation concludes with a contest, in which the top finishers are awarded 10 scholarships.

Cycle of Seminars for General Directors of the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy
The initiative was held in September 2023, with a cycle of 4 sessions in which the following topics were covered:
The outcomes have been brought to the attention of the Cybersecurity Core. Forthcoming training will continue for other ministries (MUR and MASE).
Cyber 4.0 with the Council of Europe to support cyber exercise on cooperation between CSIRT and law enforcement agencies
About 50 participants from 12 countries took part in the multinational cyber exercise on CSIRT and Law Enforcement Cooperation, organized by the Council of Europe in KaKheti, Georgia, Oct. 24-27, 2023.
The exercise brought together representatives of law enforcement agencies, attorney general’s offices, and national CERTs/CSIRTs from the Eastern Partnership regions, the Western Balkans, and Turkey, who were confronted with a realistic scenario of a cyber attack by a state actor against the SCADA systems of the energy supplier of an imaginary country
There were three objectives of the exercise:
Cyber 4.0 has collaborated with the Council of Europe (CyberEast and iProceeds-2 projects) and supported the exercise through:
Cyber 4.0’s contribution to the exercise was made possible by the support of Leonardo, which produced the artifacts used during the investigation activities and also made available its Cyber Trainer and Cyber Range platforms.
