Training minds for the work of the future.

This is the purpose of CyberX – Mind4Future, an evolved and experiential training program on cybersecurity topics by Cyber4.0 and Leonardo in collaboration with partner universities and thus open to students from Sapienza, Tor Vergata, Roma Tre, LUISS Guido Carli, Campus Biomedico, Tuscia, Cassino and Lazio Meridionale, and L’Aquila.

The initiative involves students from the universities that are part of Cyber 4.0 (bachelor’s and master’s) degrees in the field of information, industrial and information engineering, and degrees in Mathematics, Physics, Data science, Management and ComputerScience,Economics, and Economic and Business Sciences. Enrollment is allowed for students enrolled in 2023/2024 and 2024/2025.

CyberX – Mind4Future is a concrete opportunity for students about to enter the world of work to enhance their skills, experience frontier technology solutions and learn about a leading business environment in the cyber security industry.

Continuing with the goals of the first edition, the initiative stems from the need to remedy the skill-gap in cybersecurity. Largely confirming the trends and forecasts for 2022, the worldwide Cyber Skill-Gap in 2023 grew again to around 4 million jobs. Specifically, the gap between the number of workers needed and the number of available workers shows an annual increase of 12.6 percent, with an increase of 9.7 percent in Europe alone, for more than 347,000 positions.

At the same time, globally, 90 percent of organizations have experienced one or more cyber attacks at least partially attributable to a lack of cybersecurity skills and/or awareness.

The program, organized by Cyber 4.0 in collaboration with Leonardo, has the following objectives:

  • To provide an innovative educational model that combines traditional educational moments with laboratory and gaming activities to create a highly experiential and immersive journey.
  • Promote the development of soft skills through a human-tech approach that combines technical skills with the enhancement of “human capital,” helping to increase the ability to communicate, work in teams, resolve conflicts, and make decisions
  • Help spread a culture of national security and train the skills the country needs to recognize, understand and deal with cyber threats for a secure future.

Students participating in the initiative will attend training courses on topics in cyber security and workshop and gaming activities in virtualized and immersive realities. Participation will end with a contest, in which the top finishers will receive 10 cash prizes.

The amount of the scholarships, established on funds provided by Leonardo S.p.A., is as follows:

  • 5,000 EUR gross for the first place winner
  • 3,000 EUR gross for the runner-up
  • 2,500 EUR gross for the third place winner
  • 2,000 EUR gross for the fourth place winner
  • 1,500 EUR gross for the fifth place winner
  • 1,000 EUR gross each for sixth through tenth place finishers

The initiative will run over a period of time from theactivation of the call for proposals on September 16, 2024, to the final awards ceremony, scheduled for January 2025.
