The bilateral Cyber Capacity Building program between Italy and Ghana, implemented by Cyber 4.0 as part of its cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) and the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) of Ghana, is entering a new phase with the start of the study visit by the Ghanaian inter-institutional delegation, composed of representatives from the Cyber Security Authority, the judiciary, the Armed Forces, the Ghana Immigration Service, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The first day began with the opening ceremony at the MAECI, attended by Director General Alessandro De Pedys, the Ambassador of Ghana to Italy, H.E. Mona Quartey, and the President of Cyber 4.0, Prof. Paolo Spagnoletti.
Among the main topics at the center of the discussion were: the structure of the Directorate General for Cyber Affairs, Information Technology, and Technological Innovation (DGCT); the growing importance of cyber diplomacy in cooperation between states; the importance of inter-institutional exchange; a comparison of the operational approaches adopted by the two countries; and the political and technical implications of attributing cyberattacks.
During the meeting, Matteo Lucchetti, Director of Cyber 4.0, provided an update on the status of the implementation of the #cooperationprogram, highlighting how the study visit represents a #milestone in the collaboration between the two countries.
In the afternoon, the delegation met with theNational Cybersecurity Agency (ACN), gaining an in-depth understanding of the Agency’s architecture and governance, as well as its financial sustainability, the 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗮 𝗻𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗶 𝗰𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘇𝘇𝗮, and its corresponding Implementation Plan Implementation Plan, the relevance of the human factor and the importance of widespread training and awareness across various sectors, as well as the role of the ACN in international cooperation initiatives.
The event confirmed that ongoing institutional dialogue and the exchange of experiences at the international level can translate, within the context of cyber capacity building, into concrete tools for cooperation and the strengthening of #national .
